5 Tips for Choosing the Best Lighting for Your Bedroom

Your bedroom should be one of the most peaceful places in your home, and as such, you want to make sure that it has the perfect lighting to help you relax and unwind after a long day at work or school.

However, choosing lighting that matches your luxury bedroom’s ambiance can be difficult if you aren’t an expert on this topic, so this article offers five tips for choosing the best lighting for your bedroom based on these factors: the size of your room, the atmosphere you want to create, and your budget.

1) Match your lights with a colour scheme

Whether you’re setting up lighting in your bedroom or any other room, it’s important to create a cohesive look. For example, pairing cool lights with warm bedding and walls can create a relaxing environment that encourages sleep.

On the other hand, having an all-white scheme with all cool lights is a great way to keep things bright and crisp throughout your home. Before choosing your lights, take some time to study how they will affect your room as a whole! Not sure how?

2) Use lights that are bright enough but not too bright

It’s best to use lights that are dimmable to keep them from being too harsh. It also means you can adjust them as needed depending on your mood and whether or not you need to sleep.

If you’re buying a lamp, look for one with a wide range of dimming settings so that it can be adjusted over time. This is especially helpful if you wake up in different states of grogginess throughout your lifetime.

3) Always use dimmers where possible

A great way to create a warm, relaxing environment is by dimming your lights at night. This can help you wind down, get to sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start your day.

Choose bright lights during work hours: If you’re naturally an early riser, it may be a good idea to install bright lights throughout your bedroom so that you can quickly hop out of bed and get straight into work mode!

4) Avoid fluorescent lights

Fluorescent lights are bad news. Not only can they be a trigger for migraines, but you’re more likely to fall asleep during a room that’s illuminated by them. What you need is soft light—the kind of light emitted by floor lamps and wall sconces.

5) Incorporate natural light into your design

The easiest way to add a little extra light to your bedroom is by adding in skylights or larger windows, so you’ll want to consider how much natural light will be available during different times of day.

Daylight helps keep your body and mind alert and energized, so it’s important to consider how much natural light you’ll have access to, especially if you plan on waking up early. If you already use blackout curtains, try removing them and see how it feels—you might find that your room gets more light than expected. If that isn’t enough for you, look into artificial lighting options like clip-on reading lights or nightlights.
