What is the ESE Mechanical Syllabus? What are the important topics in it?

The government runs many sectors and for that, they require capable and skilled candidates. Many entrance exams are taken to recruit and select them. One of them is ESE i.e. Engineering Service Exam. This exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) annually. The candidates selected are expected to handle the technical and managerial functions related to engineering. This exam will clear your way to getting a government job which will be a golden opportunity with lots of perks. This exam constitutes a written examination which is further followed by a personality test. The candidates are recruited under the categories are civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and telecommunication engineering.

The exam pattern for ESE Mechanical exam remains the same, but the syllabus does differ. Also, the eligibility is the same except for the educational qualification as the degree or diploma should match with your respective field. While looking for eligibility, pay attention to age limit, nationality and educational qualification. So you have to keep an eye on such things. To apply for this exam, you can visit the UPSC website portal or BYJUI’S Exam Prep.

ESE Mechanical Exam Pattern

Know about the exam pattern as well to prepare well. It consists of three stages. The preliminary stage includes paper I- general studies and engineering aptitude (2 hours for 200 marks) and paper II- engineering discipline i.e. civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics and telecommunication engineering (3 hours for 300 marks). The main examination includes paper I and paper II- engineering discipline (3 hours each for 300 marks). Only those candidates will be permitted to apply for stage II who have cleared stage I. For the third stage, you have to appear for an interview of personality test (200 marks).
